take the leap!

Welcome back to Sunday Goods!

Let’s talk about something we’ve all struggled with—waiting until we feel ready. Whether it’s starting a new job, launching a business, moving to a new city, or even just putting yourself out there in a new way, there’s always that little voice saying: 'not yet'. I need more time. More experience. More confidence.

But here’s the truth: that feeling of being “ready” might never come. And if you keep waiting for it, you might be waiting forever.

Why we wait

Most of the time, we aren't putting things off because we’re actually unprepared—we put them off because we’re scared. Scared of failure, of judgment, of things not going the way we imagined. It’s easy to convince ourselves that we just need a little more time, but what we’re really doing is giving fear a reason to keep us stuck.

I’ve been there. I’ve had ideas, dreams, and plans that I sat on for way too long, thinking that once I had everything perfectly lined up, then I’d take the leap. But the reality? There’s no magic moment when everything falls into place. The only way to truly be ready is to start.

Taking the leap—even when it’s scary

1. Accept That Fear Is Part of the Process

Fear doesn’t mean you’re not ready—it just means you’re doing something that matters. Instead of seeing fear as a stop sign, see it as a signal that you’re stepping into something bigger than yourself.

2. Progress Over Perfection

If you wait for the perfect time, the perfect plan, or the perfect version of yourself, you’ll never start. You don’t need to have it all figured out—just take the first step. You can learn and adjust along the way.

3. Confidence Comes From Action

We think we need confidence before we start, but in reality, confidence comes from starting. The more you do something, the more capable you feel. You build confidence by showing up, even when you’re unsure.

4. Focus on the Next Step, Not the Whole Journey

Thinking about the entire process can feel overwhelming. Instead of fixating on the big picture, just focus on what you can do today. One small step at a time is how real progress happens.

5. Give Yourself Permission to Be a Beginner

You don’t have to be great at something right away. No one starts out as an expert. It’s okay to stumble, to figure things out as you go, and to learn through experience. The only real failure is never starting at all.

If you’re waiting for the right moment, consider this your sign—it’s already here. You don’t have to feel ready. You just have to begin.

Thanks for being here, and whatever leap you’ve been putting off, I hope this gives you the push to go for it. You’re more capable than you think.

With care,

Elle
