say yes anyway

Welcome back to Sunday Goods!

there’s a moment right before you hit book on the flight, or say “sure” to that spontaneous invite — where anxiety loves to creep in.

it whispers all the “what ifs,” plays the worst-case scenarios on repeat, and convinces you that staying in your comfort zone is the safer choice.

but what if we stopped letting that voice decide for us?

recently, I booked a last-minute trip.

no weeks of planning, just a gut decision and a craving for something new.

it might sound small to some, but for me, it was the first spontaneous thing I’d done in years — and it reminded me that I’m still allowed to say yes to life, even when my mental health tells me to stay still.

when you’re living with anxiety or navigating any kind of mental health struggle, spontaneity can feel like a threat.

our brains love routine, predictability, & control.

but if we’re not careful, that comfort can turn into a cage - it’s easy to forget that some of the most healing, life-affirming moments happen in the unknown.

you don’t have to wait until you’re completely healed to live.

you don’t need to be perfectly ready to try something new.

being young, whatever age that is for you — is a gift.

if your body is capable, your heart is beating, & your soul is craving more than your couch & your comfort zone, you owe it to yourself to answer that call.

not every spontaneous decision will be life-changing, but each one reminds you that you’re alive & that’s something worth celebrating.

so, next time anxiety tries to run the show, thank it for trying to protect you… & then go anyway.

this weeks gentle reminder:

  • you can feel anxious and still say yes.

  • you can feel uncertain and still move forward.

  • you can have struggles and still be spontaneous.

do it now — while you’re young, while you’re here, while you still can.

love you always,

elle
