bts of runforyourmoney

happy sunday, its a good day to have a good day!

today I just wanted to take a moment today to talk about the backstory of runforyourmoney - the idea came to me in high school, sitting in a parked car with one of my old friends. We were in a random parking lot near our houses—just talking, dreaming, and asking big questions we didn’t totally have the answers to.

one of those questions was:

“how can we make mental health part of everyday life?”

not something people only talk about in a crisis - not something you feel like you have to hide, just woven into the daily routine, like: brushing your teeth or drinking water.

that conversation sparked the first version of runforyourmoney

but even though the idea started back then, I let it sit for years & I told myself:

“maybe this isn’t ready yet.”

“I should learn more first.”

“who am I to talk about mental health when I still have my own bad days?”

what I didn’t realize was that those thoughts were fear disguised as preparation.

I wasn’t waiting to be more ready—I was just scared to start.

then, I heard Mel Robbins say:

“If you’re waiting to be ready, you’ll never start.”

that line changed my mindset.

I stopped waiting for the perfect moment & started showing up with what I had. & over time, runforyourmoney began to evolve—through clothing, stationery, content, even ideas for an app or home decor.

the form doesn’t matter as much as the mission: to keep mental health front and center in real, accessible ways.

the name idea actually came from my mom, who always told me,

“you give me a run for my money.”

& that I did, I questioned things, challenged the norm, pushed limits.

but eventually I realized—

life gives all of us a run for our money.

it tests us, it throws things at us we never saw coming, it asks us to keep going when we feel like we can’t, & sometimes, it breaks people we love.

it’s one of the reasons I’ve stayed so committed to this message.

because people are quietly going through more than we realize.

& sometimes, just a small reminder that life is still worth the fight can make a difference.

that’s what runforyourmoney is about -

not fixing everything.

not pretending to have it all together.

but showing up for yourself again and again.

even when life pushes you.

even when your brain feels loud.

even when it all feels too heavy.

because you are your most valuable thing.

& you’re always worth the run.

with care,

elle
